Born in a small rural town in Saskatchewan, Calvin Ayre has come a long way since his humble beginnings. Today Ayre is member of only a small group of Canadian billionaires and holds the honor as being the only Canadian entrepreneur to hold a feature on the cover of the Forbes magazine Billionaires. Ayre has also been named as one of the Hottest Bachelors by People magazine.
Ayre’s ride to the top began during his first year of college when he built his first business, selling fruit. The time and labor involved in his first business was long and tiring; however, it proved to be quite profitable. Encouraged by the success he had witnessed in his first venture, he then went on to become involved in many different businesses; most of which were in the field of technology.
Founding Bodog
In 1994, he founded a technology company that would become Bodog Entertainment. Today that company has become an international entertainment organization that offers television, publishing and music to its diverse audience. Bodog.com, part of Bodog Entertainment, is now one of the popular and successful online casinos in the world.
Calvin Ayre Charities
Ayre is also quite active in a number of charities and philanthropic organizations. He has pledged millions of dollars in support to numerous charitable organizations and communities throughout the world. Just a few of the charities Ayre supports include the LA Lakers Youth Foundation, Fisher House Foundation, the Human Society, the Animal Avengers Organization, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Sean McCauley Hope Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.
Ayre also heads up an international philanthropic organization known as the eCalvin Ayre Foundation, based in Antigua. The organization focus on animal welfare, the environment and education for disadvantaged youth.
