David Williams Biography

David Williams, born June 9 1980, hails from Arlington Texas. Williams initially ventured in poker in the late 1990s with Magic’s Pro Tour. By 2001 he managed to make the cutoff on the final day of competition and had raked in more than $30,000 playing Magic.

Williams ran into a bit of trouble; however, when it was determined by the judging staff at the tournament that he had cheated. The decision was based on the fact that all four of the accumulated knowledge cards that Williams held were bent more than any other cards. The judging staff also determined that Williams managed to cut his deck with a copy of Accumulated Knowledge on top during as well as the fact every time the staff tried they were able to cut his deck to a copy of Accumulated Knowledge. Williams finally admitted that his cards were marked but continued to dispute that he had marked them intentionally for the purposes of cheating. Never the less he was suspended for a year.

While on suspension, Williams began to play Texas hold’em. His suspension proved to be the perfect time for him to master game and when he finished his suspension he was able to stage a very successful comeback, winning money at numerous Magic events.

In 2004, Williams moved on to finish in second place at the 2004 World Series. That same year he also took second place in the WPT Borgata Poker Open and won the Five Diamond World Poker Classic Limit Hold’em event. His second place victory at the 2004 World Series earned him $3.5 million in prize money. Williams earned his entry into the 2004 World Series through a satellite event that was hosted at PokerStars.

Two years later, he managed to achieve his goal by bringing home the coveted gold bracelet, winning the $1,500 Seven-card stud event as well as a whopping $163,118.

Before becoming a pro player Williams was an economic student. Having scored 1550 on his SATs, Williams entered college at age 16.
